The Choir

The church choir meets every Friday evening from 6pm and sings at each Sunday morning service at 9.30am.  They lead the congregation in singing the hymns, psalms and the setting of the Eucharist.  They also sing one or two items while the congregation takes communion.  These might be hymns, anthems or even a gospel song with percussion!  Many members of the choir are also instrumentalists, and they are often to be found playing during Family Services, or at the end of a regular Sunday service.

The choir also sings at special services throughout the year, such as Easter, Remembrance Sunday and the popular Nine Lessons and Carols Service at Christmas.

They are led by the church organist and choir master, Stephen Marshall.

The choir is always happy to welcome new members – just come along to a practice and see what you think!

Sunday School

On most Sundays, the children in the choir and congregation are invited to join in with Sunday school, in the church room at the back of the church.  They take part in various activities such as listening to a bible story, a wordsearch, and a craft or art activity, and there is something for all ages to enjoy.  They rejoin the rest of the congregation during the offertory hymn.

Bell Ringers

We currently have a band of 10, they are:  Su Bull, Brian Cox (tower captain) Di Cule, Diane Davies, Emlyn Hughes, John Masters, Chris Openshaw, Jackie Pickford, Clive Summers and Frank Williams.  Obviously they do not all appear at every session but importantly we manage to ring on most Sundays from 9.00 to 9.30am (It is not compulsory to stay on for the church service following but it would be great if you did).

We are lucky to have one of the very few 8 bell towers in the area having a heated ringing chamber with W.C facilities also not common.  Ringing is normally kept to “rounds” and “call changes”, with the intent to progress to methods in due course.  The band combines with the local towers of Cwmdu, Crickhowell. Llanbedr and Llanelli (Gilwern) to hols a combined meeting in alternate venues.  The tower practice is on a Monday at 7pm to 8pm.  We are able to teach new ringers and more than happy to accommodate them, current ringers of any standard are always very welcome.
